Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Jharrel Jerome attended Fiorello H LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in Manhattan, New York. In 2020 Jerome released his first single, FOR REAL (feat. Kemba), produced by Take A Daytrip. Jerome’s venture into hip hop music has been building for years, as he worked to write songs and lyrics that ultimately brought him to this first mainstream release. While working on his music, he was also flourishing in his acting career. In 2019, Jharrel won an Emmy Award for Oustanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries for his portrayal of ‘Korey Wise’ in Ava Duvernay’s Netlflix limited series, WHEN THEY SEE US.  Other accolades for this role include an NAACP Image Award and a Critics’ Choice Award. Jerome has also recently starred in the HBO Special BETWEEN THE WORLD AND ME based on the original Apollo Theatre production of the same name; the project also includes Oprah Winfrey, Phylicia Rashad, Janet Mock, Kendrick Sampson and starred alongside Idris Elba and Caleb McLaughlin in the film CONCRETE COWBOYS. He is also recognized for his breakout role in Barry Jenkins’ film MOONLIGHT, which earned the 2016 Academy Award for Best Picture.
